Push for Construction of four Classrooms at Acaba Secondary School
With support from the USAID/UKAID Governance, Accountability, Participation and Performance (GAPP) Program, AYDL established Voluntary Service Corps in 4 secondary schools in Oyam and Amuru districts. The essence of the establishment of (VSCs) was to enhance the capacity of youth in schools to contribute to addressing service delivery challenges within their schools and communities through their active participation in public life. This was principally driven by our firm belief in the fact that the single most powerful act we can do is prepare young people with the skills and commitments to take actions around causes that matter to them with courage, compassion and collaborationThe VSCs were identified and trained on how they can get involved in public life. They were also trained on the importance of active voluntary citizenship, human rights, tolerance, their roles and responsibilities as citizens, nationalism, accountable leadership, dialogue, among others. In addition, they were equipped with the knowledge and skills required for them to engage with the relevant school and district leadership on matters of service delivery in the education sector. Acaba Secondary School in Oyam district was mong the schools trained.
